Bo Parrish is an Ironman Triathlete. He has raced on three continents and spends an average of 20 hours week training as a member of the the Timex Multisport Team. He owns a successful investment management company and lives in Tennessee with his wife Marietta, his dog Chief and - Crohn's disease.
Diagnosed at the age of 13, Bo struggled with severe abdominal pain, malnutrition, intestinal scarring and serious weight loss throughout his teen and young adult life.
In 2006 while on a business trip to Canada, Bo nearly lost his life to complications of his Crohn's disease when years of scarring and inflammation resulted in a ruptured colon that required emergency surgery and ended with a colostomy.
Instead of seeing this experience as a setback, Bo determined to live his life to the fullest and began to compete in triathlons. His "second chance on life" also created in him a passion for giving back and he regularly speaks to groups and organizations.
We think Bo is an amazing person and a wonderful example of what children with IBD can aspire to and accomplish in their personal and professional lives.
His support of the Pediatric IBD Foundation and his commitment to research for children with IBD are so important. Please feel free to email him here. Thanks for all you do Bo!
Pediatric IBD Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization
