The Pediatric IBD Consortium began in 1999 as an alliance of physicians in six research hospitals across the United States devoted to improving the care and development of children with Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The Consortium now includes 19 institutions - and it is growing.
Members study all aspects of IBD to discover or prove the efficacy of palliative treatments and ultimately to find cures. They have produced a unique bio repository of blood and tissue samples from pediatric patients, and a database of thousands of IBD cases.
These resources form an unprecedented basis for studies of the disease over time, across a large and diverse population - studies which are leading to innovative, safer and more effective treatments. The pooling of resources continues to grow.
